⚠️ Issues

Optional events that shape your nation

Nation issues are situations that come up from time to time as your nation grows: a bank run, a water dispute, a crowded orbit. Each one matches your current age. When a new issue lands you get a notification, and the issue's emoji appears with a ! at the left of your dashboard action bar. Tap either to open it.

Issues never pause your nation. Turns keep flowing whether you answer or not. If you ignore an issue, it quietly fades away within a day with no consequence, and it may come around again later.

Answering is how your government type takes shape: every choice nudges your nation along the economic, personal, and political freedom axes (see the Government guide). Choices also carry tangible consequences:

  • Population stats: happiness, intelligence, and freedom.
  • Treasury and resources: some choices cost or gain a share of your cash, or add and drain stockpiles like food, stone, or steel.
  • Timed effects: some choices raise or lower your happiness ceiling for a few hours, so the mood shift actually lingers.
  • Influence: bold or prestigious choices move it up or down.

Two story issues are special: 👽 Contact and 🌌 Ascension. They never expire and wait as long as you need, but they still never block your economy.

Each choice on an issue shows its stat effects before you decide. See Ascension perks for path rewards that stack across runs.

Example issue

A new issue appears as its emoji with a ! badge at the left of the action bar at the bottom of your dashboard. Tapping it opens the decision:

🏦 A Run on the Bank: A rumor, then a queue, then a mob: the Commercial Bank's doors are shut and half the city's savings are behind them.

Guarantee deposits from the treasury
Lend the bank gold against its good assets
Let the reckless bank fail as a lesson
Ignore for now

Ignore for now closes the issue without deciding. It will hang around for a while in case you change your mind, then disappear on its own.
